It's a start

This is a picture drawn by Grant.

It is a picture of Doornail.  Doornail is a dog (in case you couldn't tell from the picture).

This is another picture of Doornail with Grant taken last year.

Grant loves Doornail.

I think Doornail loves Grant too.

Doornail has fully forgiven Grant for sticking him with a name like 'Doornail'.

Grant has been drawing lots of pictures lately. This is a new (and wonderful) developmental step for Grant. As of just a couple months ago the kid NEVER sat down with pencil and paper. I was beginning to worry a little if he'd ever show an interest.

If you look closely, you'll see Doornail has been given the correct number of legs and a tail.  Way to go Grant!

In case you're wondering about all of the extras around each picture of Doornail, I'll explain.  Grant was spelling words around the edges of each picture.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Grant knew how to spell his name. 

What really shocked me was seeing Emily's name and Grace's name on the other pictures.

I wasn't sure he knew how to spell his own name, much less anyone else's.

He must be my stealth learner.  He's absorbing way more than he shows me.

Now if he could just learn to put the letters in a straight row!!!

Just to be fair....here's Grace's latest handiwork.

She's into fashion.

She was quite concerned with getting her dress drawn just right.

She also wanted to know if I liked her tiara.

I'm a bit worried about her when she grows up.  I'm not sure I'll be able to afford her taste in clothes. 

Grant needs to give her a lesson in counting fingers in her drawings too!
